LOCATED ON THE SHORES OF THE ERIE CANAL AT THE HEART OF THE GREAT EMBANKMENT…
During its construction, this section of the erie canal was an architectural marvel. In 1822, work on the “Great Embankment” in Hartwell’s Basin (now Bushnell’s Basin) was completed. The embankment, which is one mile long and 70 feet high, carries the Erie Canal above the Irondequoit Creek Valley. Seven Story Brewing pays tribute to the ingenuity and grit needed to complete one of the most challenging stretches of the Erie Canal - and the heights they went to make it happen.
