we believe every beer has a story to tell.
EVERY story - be it a movie, book, poem, or tall tale told around the fire - goes better with good friends and good beer.
like all the great stories after which our beers are named, our beers also have a unique story to tell. We also know that after spending some time with us and our beers, you'll have some pretty great stories of your own.
we founded seven story brewing in 2018 to serve great beer in a great location to our neighbors. We brew our beers in our on-site brewhouse, and through partnership with some of the best craft breweries in the area. Our brewmaster, Phill Macarthur, creates all our beer recipes and painstakingly sources high-quality ingredients. we use New york state ingredients whenever we can, and work with partners who share our values. We believe our location on the erie canal is one of the best places around to enjoy a beer, whether you’re inside by our fire on a frigid winter night or lounging in an Adriondack chair watching boats sail by on a balmy summer afternoon.
During its construction, the section of the erie canal where seven story is now located was an architectural marvel. In 1822, work on the “Great Embankment” in Hartwell’s Basin (now Bushnell’s Basin) was completed. The embankment, which is one mile long and 70 feet high (seven stories), carries the Erie Canal above the Irondequoit Creek valley.
Seven Story Brewing pays tribute to the ingenuity and grit needed to complete one of the most challenging stretches of the Erie Canal - and the heights to which they went to make it happen.
